Winter Critter Holiday Porch Décor
I love creating a welcoming entranceway to my home. After a long day, a friendly greeting walking up to the front door feels like the first step to unwind. Growing up my mom always had seasonal wreaths, arrangements, windsocks and themes to enjoy year round, so surely this is my inspiration. With holiday entertaining, it is always fun to put together a special look so that visiting guests will enjoy their experience even before they come inside.
Every year I put together a different holiday décor scheme, and the jumping off point of this year’s outdoor look was the winter white felt wreath. With two little lovebirds sitting in the felt leaves the winter critter theme began. I was craving a paired-down look for the doorway in comparison to my Winterberry Inspired Outdoor Holiday Décor from years past. Instead of an evergreen garland, I just hung a simple strand of white lights around the doorway, which looks extra inviting in the evening when lit.
I found a wispy potted greenery arrangement with a winter white moose ornament to fit with the winter critter theme at my favourite local nursery and garden centre. As late fall is a busy time in my schedule, the pre-designed arrangement was easy to slip into place on one side of the doorway. I reused some oversized pinecones in another glossy red barrel planter on the other side of the door. A vintage wooden bench from my grandparents’ cottage was also worked into the porch décor. I think it would look lovely with a plaid throw blanket hung on one side, so I will have to keep my eyes open for one to work with next year! I used the lantern from my collection in the scheme, as candles help create a cozy atmosphere both indoors and out, especially when the weather gets chilly. My braided jute doormat from previous seasons worked well with the other accessories and coordinated with the jute burlap bow in the potted greenery arrangement to finish things off.
