Quaint Urban Ensemble of Old Québec
To capture the last bit of summer spirit, we planned a quick but lovely getaway to visit Old Québec. Listed as one of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Sites, an obvious highlight was exploring the ancient districts of the city. The city is filled with gorgeous details, a few of which I captured in my post Charming Architectural Details and Colour Palette of Old Québec. We had a special route planned to reveal the visual treasures contained inside and around the city’s walls one by one. It was a pleasure to wander through the narrow cobblestone streets in the historic upper and lower town for hours. Le Château, restaurants, hotels, shops, art galleries, civil buildings, religious buildings, and horse drawn carriages all had a distinct French Canadian flair and panache. The quaint urban ensemble of Old Québec is a precious gem right here in Canada. Simply amazing. This trip will always have a treasured place in my heart.
I always wonder what my life would be like in French.
