Wine Tasting in Wine Country Day Two
A sommelier recommended visiting this vineyard, and with the dog reference in its name, how could we resist? The site was quiet and secluded and because this vineyard is not found on the Prince Edward County Winegrowers Association (PECWA) map, we felt like we were discovering a hidden gem.
We found a cute little home tucked away in the long grasses on the property, some red painted Muskoka chairs within feet of the grapes, and a tasty 2008 Pinot Noir. Clearly hiding my excitement, I patiently waited to meet the vineyard’s famous dog Flora, a wire-haired dachshund. Great experience.
Finally, the last stop of the trip had us visiting a winery in a converted cheese house, so my favourite part had to be the romance of its history. Looking back, the most important take away from the weekend’s wine tasting experience, is what matters about a bottle of wine is not the taste or the price tag, but who you share it with.
I always wonder what my life would be like in French.
