Spring Reveal at the Flower Market
London’s (UK) Columbia Road Flower Market is on my “must-visit” bucket list. It will still be a while until I will get across the ocean to wander the narrow flower-lined road on a Sunday morning. In the meantime, heading to Toronto’s Flower Market on Queen Street West is a great alternative. I admire the entrepreneurial spirit in which Toronto’s market has been built.
The spring is off to a slow start in the area, so seeing all the colourful blooms was delightful. Flowers make me happy, so I enjoyed wandering around taking photos and seeing the flower offerings from the local vendors. Additionally, the juxtaposition of the flower buckets alongside graffiti and the hustle and bustle of the busy city street created an exciting vibe.
Peonies are one of my favourite type of flowers, so this Saturday in June was the perfect time to visit the market. Peonies are in season and these were definitely a popular choice of flower fans! Growing up, our family home had peonies lining one side and I remember on special occasions during Peony season we would stand all dress up in front of the bushes for photos. I believe you can make any day a special occasion, so with my pretty peonies we did just that ~ celebrate and savour the moment!
I always wonder what my life would be like in French.
